MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Musicians for Le Bonheur, the charity project headed up by Angry Nerd Music, ise looking for new artists for 2014. The project raises money for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital through live shows around the city of Memphis and a compilation CD featuring Mid-South musicians.
All of the money raised through the live events and the CD sales goes directly to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Musicians for Le Bonheur started in 2010 with a one-disc compilation featuring 20 songs from 18 artists from the Mid-South area. In 2011, it was a one-night only Battle of the Bands. In 2013, the project soared to twenty-five shows and a two-disc compilation album featuring 40 songs. Many musicians, including Nick Black, Chiral Theory, Megan Myles, and Matt Williams, visited the hospital to perform for the kids.
“This has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done since I began performing,” says country artist Megan Myles. In October of 2013, Musicians for Le Bonheur was able to raise $2,300 along with $4,000 in CD’s to use at the hospital’s discretion.
Returning in 2014 to the project are country singer Frankie Hollie, songwriter Rice Drewry, Ed Harris, and bands like Chiral Theory, Crashing Broadway, J is for James, and more. New artists include Ryan Peel, pop artist Mindy Howell, Christian-based band This Glorious Cause, and Tupelo-based rock band Crashing Broadway.
The project, however, is looking for more artists to be featured on the compilation CD. All tracks must be original, family friendly, and studio quality. For more information on submitting material, you can e-mail info@musiciansforlebonheur.com.
