Video evidence has led to an arrest in a Nov. 24 case of identity theft and forgery, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reports.
On that date, Jeremy Cornett, a former employee of Meadows Construction, pumped fuel into his personal vehicle at the Shell station on Hacks Cross and Tenn. 385. He then charged it to the Meadows charge at the store and signed the name of a current employee who is an authorized user on the account.
Total losses were in the amount of $339.27.
When his former supervisor was notified, he viewed the video and recognized Cornett as the responsible person.
Cornett is already in custody for two counts of auto burglary and is now additionally charged with identity theft, forgery and theft of property.
