The Bartlett Police Report for the period of Nov. 4–17, 2019, lists the most notable crimes for that period as reported by the Bartlett Police Department. It does not necessarily reflect all police activity. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
Robbery, theft, burglary
U.S. 70: A suspect robbed Trustmark (6767 U.S. 70) and fled the scene on Nov. 4. Detectives began an investigation and located and arrested the suspect that evening.
U.S. 64: A woman at Walmart (8400 U.S. 64) reported on Nov. 5 that someone stole her iPhone from her purse.
Stage Village Cove: Unknown suspects robbed Excel Centers of America (2855 Stage Village Cove, Suite 7, on Nov. 15.
Anna Calla Way: A woman said someone tried unsuccessfully to break into her residence on Nov. 16.
Vandalism
Stage Road: A disgruntled customer at Grand Pacific (6196 Stage Road) was upset on Nov. 12 because he believed the restaurant had double-charged him.
He knocked several items off the counter, destroying a glass tip jar and two souvenir mirrors. He then left the restaurant.
Vehicle-related
Fiske Valley Drive: Alerted by his barking dogs, a man ran to his driveway on Nov. 4 in time to see two fleeing suspects. Video of the incident revealed the suspects opening the man’s unlocked front passenger side door before they left. They fled in an early 2000s model silver Dodge Neon.
Fiske Valley Drive: A man who left his truck unlocked in his driveway reported on Nov. 4 that someone had entered the truck and stolen a handgun from the center console.
Maher Trail: A man who left his vehicle unlocked reported on Nov. 4 that someone took about $5 in change and ransacked his vehicle.
Unspecified location: A man reported on Nov. 6 that someone had stolen prescription medication from his vehicle.
Summer Avenue: A spokesman at J.C. Auto Shop (6838 Summer Ave.) said on Nov. 7 that a suspect drove onto their property and stole two batteries worth about $250 each and a truck rim worth $250.
Centralia Road: A woman reported on Nov. 8 that someone had stolen her vehicle’s license plate.
Mary Elizabeth Drive: A man reported on Nov. 9 that someone had vandalized his truck. The responding officer saw a long scratch on the driver’s side.
Oak Forest Drive: A man reported on Nov. 10 that someone had slashed three of his vehicle’s tires.
U.S. 64: A woman reported on Nov. 10 that she arrived at Walmart (8400 U.S. 64) and accidentally left her cellphone on the passenger seat of her unlocked vehicle. When she returned, the phone was gone.
U.S. 64: A man reported that on Nov. 10 that someone broke out his vehicle’s passenger window and stole his handgun while he was parked on the east side of Firebirds (8470 U.S. 64).
Stage Road: Someone stole a man’s black 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe on Nov. 10 while it was parked at Mapco (6127 Stage Road). He said he left the keys on the center console while he was buying items at the store.
He said the only identifying features of his vehicle are the 22-inch after-market rims with mud tires and blacked-out brake lights.
Yale Road: A woman reported on Nov. 11 that she had video footage of a suspect breaking the driver’s side rear window of a vehicle parked on the south side of Christ Church (5955 Yale Road).
Ruskin Road: A man reported on Nov. 12 that someone stole his vehicle from his driveway.
U.S. 64: A man reported on Nov. 13 that someone shattered the driver’s side window of his rental vehicle and stole his NBA tickets from the center console. He was parked at Malco Cinema (7930 U.S. 64).
Wolf Lake Drive: A spokesman for Cook’s Pest Control (8527 Wolf Lake Drive) reported on Nov. 14 that someone cut the chain to the fence around where the work trucks were parked.
The intruder than cut 17 catalytic converters off all the trucks (estimated $12,000).
Stage Road: A man reported on Nov. 16 that someone burglarized his vehicle while he was parked at Andy B’s (6276 Stage Road). He wasn’t sure if he had locked the doors. The thief took his gun from under his driver’s seat.
Officers later responded to a suspicious person call on Canehill, where a man reported a suspect looking into his vehicle in his driveway. Officers arrested the suspect, who had the first mans stolen handgun in his possession.
Centralia Road: A man reported on Nov. 17 that someone burglarized his unlocked truck.
Sunny Meadows: A man reported on Nov. 17 that someone burglarized his vehicle and stole multiple items. He said he doesn’t think he locked the vehicle.
Scepter Drive: An officer responded to multiple auto burglary complaints on Scepter Drive on Nov. 17. One complainant had video of a suspect burglarizing a vehicle. The suspect was known to officers and had been previously arrested that same day for multiple auto burglaries.
