Every year, the Arlington Elementary School PTA hosts a donation drive to help raise money to support the school. This year was a record-breaker for the big event.
They started the drive in September, and it ended with the Color Fun Run on October 10.
With generous support from parents and other community members, the drive blew past its $28,000 goal and collected more than $48,000.
Usually the PTA donates the financial gift to the school by purchasing requested equipment, items for students/classrooms and items for staff morale, but they have not yet decided how the money will be allocated this year, according to Tyler Hill, Arlington Community Schools communications coordinator.
