Healthier Bartlett is promoting participation in Million Mile Month this April. People who have not yet signed up as a team still have time.
The event encourages businesses, churches, school and others to commit to frequent walking during April. It’s a challenge to make communities healthier. Current local participants include Methodist North, Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett, Bartlett Recreation Center and Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.
Each person on a team completes physical activity and logs in miles at HealthCode.org. Some devices such as FitBit and apps such as MapMyFitness also allow participants to automatically import data on their movements.
The participant’s personal profile will track his/her personal statistics and goals. Each person’s stats will be added to the community-wide mileage ticker showing the collective miles covered, calories burned and minutes of activity.
Leaderboards online will show the stats for competing states, cities and organizations.
Participation is free.
The event is part of HealthCode.org’s quarterly global “virtual activity” events. Now in its 6th year, over 40,000 have participated in HealthCode’s events, from all states and 30 countries; achieving over 6 million miles of activity with $1 million in potential healthcare cost savings.
To participate, get started by filling out the Organization form.
