Sierra Rose Jackson, a senior at Arlington High School, was recently chosen as a finalist in the Midsouth Bandmasters for 2018. Sierra, the captain of the AHS color guard, has been playing the bassoon and marching with the color guard for six years.

Not only has she been a member of the AHS band, but she is also a member of the AHS Cross Country team. Sierra takes honors and dual enrollment classes, and when she is not studying, marching or playing her bassoon, she is involved with the youth at Bellevue Baptist Church and the Harvest Church of Arlington.

“Faith, family, friends, serving others, and playing music — these are what make a beautiful life,” she said. Sierra is the granddaughter of Sherry Simmons and Bartlett Alderman Bobby Simmons.

Jackson plans to attend the University of Memphis in the fall of 2019, studying music and health sciences.
