Members of Chief Piomingo Chapter and Watauga Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, attended an Aug. 16 naturalization ceremony at the Federal Building in Memphis.
U.S. District Court Judge for Tennessee’s Western District, the Honorable Judge Thomas L. Parker, administered the Oath of Allegiance to 57 men and women from 26 countries completing the process of becoming U.S. citizens. Each applicant was required to pass a citizenship exam; be able to speak, read, and write English; and take an oath of allegiance to the U.S.
The DAR extended congratulations to each of the newly naturalized citizens. They also handed out U.S. flags and cards containing the Pledge of Allegiance and the American’s Creed.
The Memphis metropolitan area has eight DAR chapters. Chief Piomingo Chapter and Watauga Chapter have members who live in Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Memphis and other nearby locales.
