Fifteen years ago, Saint Francis Hospital’s Center for Surgical Weight Loss performed its first bariatric surgery. Leslie Albers, Saint Francis Hospital’s bariatrics program manager, said their team has helped more than 6,000 Mid-South adults and adolescents in their quest to live a healthier life. Adolescents and teenagers ages 10-17 in Tennessee rank No. 1 in the nation for obesity, and bariatric surgery is now an option for teenagers as young as 14.
