Editor’s note: This report represents the most notable incidents provided by the Bartlett Police Department and does not necessarily reflect all police activity. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
Bartlett Police handled an ATM robbery, a parking lot fight and multiple other incidents for the period of July 9-15, 2018.
A woman who was leaving the Bank of America ATM in the Lowe’s parking lot faced a robber on July 9. It was about 5:45 a.m. and she was pulling out of the lot when she saw a man wearing all black and a mask, running toward her car. He hit her car with a metal object and then seemed to fall, so she got out of her car to check on him.
That’s when the man fought with her and took her watch, diamond ring and purse before fleeing. She went to Saint Francis Hospital – Bartlett.
The parking lot fight was around 6:30 p.m. July 9 in the Bargain Hunt parking lot (6996 Stage Road). A woman was eating with friends at Grand Pacific Restaurant when one of the suspects came by and told them to stop talking.
She and her friends decided to leave, but the suspects followed them outside. One suspect pepper sprayed them and punched one victim in the face multiple times. Another suspect grabbed a victim from behind, picked him up and slammed him onto the ground.
Thefts & burglaries
- Black lockbox taken during break-in at Don Don Hot Wings (2741 Bartlett Blvd.) shortly after midnight July 9.
- Medication stolen from under a bathroom sink at Bartlett Heights Apartment Complex on July 8. The victim said he let a woman in her early 20s into his home to use the bathroom, and he later noticed the medicine was missing. Reported July 9.
- Theft of a dealer’s car tag at Sunrise Buick GMC Wolfchase (8500 Stage Road). A customer rented a 2018 Buick Encore for June 9-July 9 and returned it with the tag missing. Reported July 9.
- Appliances stolen from a vacant house currently on the market at New Brownsville. Missing items include a fridge, stove, front door knobs and front lock box. Reported July 9.
- Home burglary with nothing taken or damaged on Bending River. The front door had been forced open. Reported July 10.
- Home burglary with $200 taken at Christoval Street. The owner found his front door open and signs someone had rummaged through the house. Reported July 11.
- Medication stolen from Bartlett Prescription Shop (5675 Stage Road) on July 12. Video evidence showed three males prying open the front door, entering and taking multiple pill bottles and cough syrup from the shelves. They left in two dark SUVs, headed westbound. Reported July 12.
- Possible attempted burglary at home on Golden Valley Road. A woman heard her home’s rear glass door break, but officers didn’t see any signs of tools used to break it. Nothing was missing. Reported July 12.
Vehicle-related
- Theft from motor vehicle in parking lot of AutoZone on U.S. 70. Someone broke into a man’s locked vehicle and stole several unspecified items. Reported July 9.
- Purse stolen from car at Little Bears Day Care (6975 U.S. 70). A mother said someone took the Vera Bradley bag left in her car while she was picking up her daughter. She said she might have left the vehicle unlocked. Reported July 13.
Other incidents
- Two fraudulent charges to a woman’s debit card, which she still had in her possession. Reported on July 9.
- Suspicious circumstances on Laurel Creek Road over several days. The victim found a deer antler on her front porch and her garage door keypad cover lying on her driveway. She also heard noises outside her home at various times of night for the previous two months. Reported July 11.
- Suspicious person at Trent Cove. Someone reported a man was walking around the cove and knocking on doors, and officers found him in a vehicle on Beagle Run Lane. He said his cousins owed the residents, and he was trying to take the vehicle to his house but the truck wouldn’t crank. The investigation found that he broke into the truck and was trying to take it to his house. Reported July 15.
- Identity theft with multiple offenses. A woman said someone opened several credit accounts in her name, used her checking account and bought something with her Home Depot account. The suspect also submitted credit applications at various financial institutions.
