MEMPHIS — 2018 will be the year of Women’s Leadership in the Memphis Area thanks to a new affordable leadership institute experience for women across the Mid-South called We Lead – Women. Elevated. We Lead, which is open to all women throughout the area, is being made available by Girl Scouts Heart of the South.
The initial cohort for We Lead will begin in February 2018 and run through November 2018. We Lead seeks to encourage, empower, and equip women of all backgrounds with the courage, confidence, and character required to serve as inspiring role models and catalysts for change wherever they live, work or volunteer.
“The mission of We Lead is to provide accessible, quality leadership training to women of all backgrounds, helping them to develop into ethical, culturally competent, civic-minded leaders with the practical skills and personal integrity needed to make a positive impact in every facet of their lives,” states Melanie Schild, CEO, Girl Scouts Heart of the South.
We Lead is designed by local female leaders for local aspiring female leaders. The We Lead experience is tailored to help Mid-South women from all organizations and all walks of life meet the unique challenges facing women in our community today.
Topics that will be covered include: leadership, resiliency, cultural competency and respect for others, communication skills and conflict negotiation, mentoring, work/life balance and personal branding.
We Lead is open to all adult women in the Mid-South. The fee to participate in We Lead is $125 – to be paid upon acceptance into the program.
Meetings will be held one Thursday night per month (February 2018 – November 2018; We Lead will not meet during the month of July) at various locations throughout the Memphis area. All meetings will take place from 6:00-8:30 PM, locations to be announced soon.
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2018 cohort. We Lead participants will meet monthly to network and learn from a wide variety of experts about topics and skills vital to today’s most successful and influential leaders. Applications must be received soon as classes start in February. Space is limited and acceptance into the program is not guaranteed.
