Sales tax revenue in Bartlett for the 2012-2013 fiscal year was near the middle of the pack among Shelby County cities.
According to data from Shelby County Trustee David Lenoir, the city generated more than $8.5 million in sales tax revenue from July 2012 to June 2013, the third most among the county’s seven municipalities.
While the amount is nearly $600,000 more than the city collected in the 2009-2010 fiscal year, it is a 0.6-percent drop from last year. The last time Bartlett lead all suburban municipalities in sales tax revenue was in 2007-2008, when more than $10 million was collected. Since then, Collierville has had the advantage.
Memphis collected $107.2 million in 2012-2013, a dip of less than $670,000 compared to the previous year. With around $9.4 million collected through June, Collierville was the second highest among Shelby cities. More than $5.2 million was collected in Germantown, a 5.5-percent drop from last year.
With a 1.5-percent jump in revenue, Millington was the only Shelby city to see an increase in the recent fiscal year.
Arlington collected slightly more than $1 million, while Lakeland collected $516,167, a significant 13-percent slide from 2012.
Despite a slight dip from last year, Arlington’s sales tax revenue is up 37 percent from 2007 and had been trending up each year until 2013. Lakeland’s revenue is down 42 percent compared to 2007, when the town brought in nearly $900,000.
