ARLINGTON — A four-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 Thursday killed one Millington man, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Blessing Asemota, 63, of Millington died in the accident between two passenger vehicles and two tractor-trailers. All people involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts, and the three other drivers and one passenger were not injured. The crash happened on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 26.
The THP report said that Asemota was traveling west in a 2001 Mercedes E43 on I-40 shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday when his car crossed the median into eastbound traffic and collided with two eastbound tractor-trailers. Asemoto’s car left the road from the impact, and the two tractor-trailers collided and entered the median. Another car was traveling west and left the road, colliding with one of the tractor-trailers.
One tractor-trailer was a 2002 Western Star semi pulling a trailer of general freight and driven by Rudy Celada Ariza, 58, of Nashville. The other was a 2012 Volvo pulling an empty trailer and driven by Jerry Osborne, 56, of Milan, Tenn.
The other passenger vehicle was a 2001 Toyota driven by Liam Gilkes, 22, of Byfield, a village in the Daventry district of Northamptonshire, England. He was accompanied by a passenger, Jasmine Davis Bacon Leaf, 22, of Nunn, Colo.
