The Bartlett Police Department handled the following incidents for the period of July 24-30, including a domestic incident on Jenny Lane that drew a lot of neighborhood speculation on NextDoor.com. This listing includes the most notable incidents for the reporting period and does not necessarily reflect all police activity.

July 24
North Germantown Parkway (theft of a motor vehicle)
A man reported July 24 that a companion took his rental vehicle and some of his belongings without permission. The victim and suspect were staying together at the Hampton Inn (2935 N. Germantown Parkway). He heard the door close between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Venson Drive (theft)
A woman reported July 24 that someone stole a weapon from the safe in her bedroom. The item taken was a nickel-plated 9mm Beretta, four magazines and a Ruger silencer. The items disappeared between 10 a.m. July 23 and 7:30 a.m. July 24.
Shadow Wick Lane (theft)
A woman whose son was house-sitting for her reported thefts on July 24. She was on vacation from the last week of June through July 8. During her trip, her son invited friends to the house, and she believes they may have stolen clothing from the residence.
Logwood Cove (theft)
A man discovered thefts after a domestic incident between him and his roommate, immediately after she moved out. The victim had a temporary bond order to stay away from her but returned to check on his home and belongings after hearing that she had moved out. He said the former roommate left pet stains from her dog, ransacked his bedroom and stole $400 cash from his bedroom closet.
Golden Valley Drive (auto burglary report)
Someone stole items from a woman’s unlocked car while it was parked on Golden Valley Drive, she reported on July 24. She said the items were stolen between 3 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Items taken included four pairs of Ray-Ban glasses ($400).
While at the scene, the officer heard from a neighbor who said he had video of two people trying to open car doors at that residence at 3:54 a.m.
Running Bird Lane (burglary)
A man reported July 24 that someone stole his Redmaxx leaf blower from his open garage. The victim said he heard his dog barking, and he walked outside to see a black male suspect getting into a white four-door vehicle, leaving westbound on Raner Creek.
Kenbridge Drive (theft)
A man said someone stole a silver certificate and 50 stocks from his home’s safe. He couldn’t specify a time frame for the theft because the last time he opened the safe was seven years previously.
Alfaree Street (vandalism)
A man said someone vandalized his property between 2:45 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. July 24 while he was away. When he returned, he saw that someone had knocked over his motorcycle, damaging the left, side, middle and rear panels.
He provided video footage, showing the responding officer that a silver 2016 Cadillac CTS pulled into the driveway just before 8 p.m. A white blonde woman exited the vehicle and walked into the carport, out of the camera’s frame to where the motorcycle was parked. She left immediately afterward.
The victim said he recognized the vehicle and the woman, identifying her as his ex-girlfriend. He said the two of them had been arguing via text messages.
July 25
Welford Drive (burglary)
A woman reported that someone had broken into her garage and her husband’s unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway. Items taken included several yard and power tools. The burglaries happened between 6:45 p.m. July 24 and 6:45 a.m. July 25. She wasn’t sure if the garage had been left open or if the suspect took the garage door opener from her husband’s truck. Several items were also taken from her vehicle, which was parked in the garage.
Davies Manor Drive (theft)
A woman reported three firearms missing from her bathroom closet on July 25 and said the last time she saw them was May 20. She and her husband were out of the home between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. May 21, and her son came home at 10:41 p.m. that night. The video feed for that time period had somehow been deleted from her home security system. There was no sign of forced entry.
Flaherty Place (theft)
A man said someone stole his cell phone while he was at the Bartlett Recreation Center (7700 Flaherty Place) on July 25. He put the phone on the bleachers at the basketball court, and his phone was gone when he returned. Rec Center staff said surveillance footage of the area would be available for viewing at a later time.
Court Street (theft)
A man reported that someone stole his pistol from his pickup truck between July 19 and July 25. He said he might have left a door unlocked. The weapon missing was a black Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 380.
July 26
Rabbit Chase Lane (burglary)
A man reported on July 26 that someone stole his four dirt bikes from his backyard shed overnight. He said it happened between 6:30 p.m. July 25 and 4 p.m. July 26. He also advised that his son had forgotten to lock the shed but did place the lock on the shed without securing it.
Jenny Lane (assault/intoxicated party complaint)
A woman said her husband pointed a pistol at her, so she fled the house with her children and called 911 on the way to a local restaurant to wait for police.
The officers found the man standing outside of the couple’s home by the garage and took him into custody without further incident. They took him to police headquarters on charges.
Stage Road (theft)
An employee at the Panda Buffet (6600 Stage Road) said an unknown white male customer left without paying for his meal. She described him as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 215 lbs. and wearing a black T-shirt and a black ball cap. She also got a photo of his license plate and advised officers she has security camera footage of the incident.
July 27
Althorne Road (auto burglary)
A woman said she parked her vehicle around 9:45 p.m. July 26 and found her belongings had been shuffled around when she returned at 7 a.m. the next morning. Her white Macbook laptop and a blue purse were missing.
U.S. 64 (auto burglary)
A man said someone stole change and the insert tray from his center console from his vehicle within minutes while he was at Lowe’s (8300 U.S. 64). There were no signs of forced entry, but the victim said his vehicle was locked and required a security code to open the doors.
U.S. 64 (auto burglary)
A man eating lunch at Firebirds (8470 U.S. 64) said someone broke his vehicle’s front passenger window and damaged the left side of the door frame. The victim said it didn’t look as if the suspect took any items of value.
July 28
U.S. 64 (vehicle break-in)
A man reported that someone apparently tried to break into his vehicle while he was parked at Lowe’s (8300 U.S. 64) for about 10 minutes. When he returned, his driver’s side lock was punched out. Nothing was taken from inside the truck.
July 29
Ivanhoe Road (suspicious circumstances)
A man reported seeing a dark sedan pull behind his work van parked in front of his home around 1 a.m. He saw an unknown white male exit the sedan and approach the driver’s side of his van. When the victim shouted, the suspect ran westbound on Ivanhoe and a driver followed him with the vehicle. The suspect didn’t gain entry to the van, and nothing appeared damaged.
Newstone Drive (theft from motor vehicle)
A man who left his vehicle unlocked reported July 29 that someone had stolen his handgun from the center console. He said it happened between July 26 and July 29.
Anna Calla Way (residential alarm)
Officers responding to a residential alarm found a home’s front door and one master bedroom window broken just before midnight July 29. The homeowner said jewelry and cash were missing.
July 30
Gingerhill Lane (theft from a motor vehicle)
A man who left his pickup truck unlocked reported on July 30 that someone had stolen his wallet, including cash and personal items, from the center console. He also discovered that someone used his credit card at several locations in Memphis, starting around 4:30 a.m. July 30.
Gingerhill Lane (aggravated burglary)
A man who left his garage door open overnight reported that someone stole several tools.
Jills Creek (fraud)
A man reported on July 30 that he received a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be Sgt. Wilson with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office the previous afternoon. The caller convinced him that he hadn’t shown up for jury duty and had to pay $500 immediately and then show up for court on Aug. 7 to get the money refunded. The victim gave the suspect his credit card number.
The suspect charged the card three separate times immediately after the call. The victim has since canceled the card.
Bartlett Boulevard (theft from motor vehicle)
A woman watching a movie at Malco Bartlett Cinema (2809 Bartlett Blvd.) said she returned to her car at 9:15 p.m. and found her front passenger window was broken and her Panasonic flat screen radio was missing.
