Academic honors

Taylor Mallett of Arlington was named to the spring 2017 dean’s list for Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Graduations

Charity Wood of Bartlett earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta, Ga., during the spring 2017 semester.

Several area students were among the spring 2017 graduates at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., on May 6. They included Ryan Austin Shankle of Bartlett, bachelor’s degree in business administration; Tavian Lott of Arlington, bachelor of science degree; and Lorie Shepard Baker of Lakeland, bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene.

Rachel Marie Herbst of Arlington was among the spring 2017 graduates at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She earned a master of science degree in education administration.
