Presentation of the colors is a proud and patriotic moment during the Memorial Day service in Bartlett. What happened Monday was also symbolic: Members of the military make sure that someone stands the watch, no matter what, and when one sailor became ill the gentleman in the Army uniform stepped up to take his place.

Cordell Walker, executive director of Alpha Omega Veterans Services Inc. was the guest speaker for a crowd of Bartlett residents gathered at Veterans Park on Memorial Day. Walker has served more than 9,000 veterans throughout his career.
The Battlefield Cross, erected in honor of fallen soldiers, is a traditional part of Memorial remembrances.
Members of the U.S. Military who are still missing in action or prisoners of war always have a space at Memorial Day events to rmember their sacrifices.
