Two Shelby County deputies shot and killed a man at the scene of a domestic situation in Arlington Saturday night. He reportedly threatened them with a knife and was advancing on them in the driveway when they opened fire.
The man killed was Jimmy Lee Lawson, 49. In addition to the field agents who responded to the scene at 9591 Osborn Road, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Response Team unit with special agent forensic scientists also responded to collect evidence.
The scene was cleared around 7 a.m. Sunday, and the investigation remains active and ongoing. When the investigation is complete, investigative findings will be submitted to the District Attorney General for her further review and consideration.
It is TBI’s policy not to release names in officer-involved shootings. Instead, the TBI defers to the local agency to release that information as they determine to do so. The SCSO has not released the names of the officers involved.
