Allstate recognizes Bartlett agency owner for volunteerism
Bartlett Allstate agency owner Terry Edwards recently secured a $1,000 grant for Freedom From Unnecessary Negatives in Memphis.
A longtime volunteer with the organization, Edwards is one of thousands of Allstate agency owners around the country rallying together to support similar programs.
“As a small-business owner in Bartlett, I see firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing our area,” Edwards said. “Giving back to my local community is tremendously rewarding and gives me a sense of purpose. I believe that when we help others, our communities are stronger and healthier, which is why I’m proud to support Freedom From Unnecessary Negatives.”
The organization is one of 3,500 organizations this year that will receive The Allstate Foundation Helping Hands in the Community grants secured by agency owners on behalf of organizations for which they volunteer. The grants support nonprofits addressing domestic violence, youth empowerment, hunger, teen safe driving, disaster preparedness, and other pressing causes. This year alone, The Allstate Foundation will grant up to $7.5 million to nonprofits across the country.
Travel Leaders owner named Trademark Woman of Distinction
Barbara Leone-May, owner of Travel Leaders & Cruises, has been selected for inclusion in the Trademark Women of Distinction Honors Edition for demonstrating dedication, leadership and professional excellence.

West Cancer Center to welcome experts to 2nd annual conference
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — West Cancer Center will welcome internationally renowned experts in the study and treatment of cancer to Memphis for their 2nd Annual West Cancer Center Oncology Conference, Nov. 18-19 at The Guest House at Graceland. The event, titled “Collaboration for the Future Cure: Precision Medicine & Immuno-Oncology,” includes an agenda focused on how to best integrate personalized medicine and the explosion of immunotherapy drugs into clinical practice.
This year’s faculty includes physicians and scientists from top medical centers and academic institutions, including City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Sessions will focus on the intersection of germline and genomic testing, immunotherapy in genitourinary cancers and personalized medicine applications in the treatment of breast cancer, as well as CAR-T cells and the newest transplantation techniques in the treatment of hematologic malignancies.
In addition to the national faculty, the 2nd Annual Conference also includes a scientific committee and local faculty composed of leading specialists from West Cancer Center. These specialists represent several of the Cancer Center’s multidisciplinary divisions, including Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplant, New Therapeutics and Clinical Research.

The conference is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for a maximum of 9 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. This activity has also been submitted to the Oncology Nursing Society for approval to award contact hours. ONS is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s COA.

West Cancer Center also recently received reaccreditation by the QOPI Certification Program (QCP), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). QCP builds on ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) and provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet nationally recognized standards for quality care. West Cancer Center first achieved certification in 2010 and was one of the first sixteen practices nationwide to receive this certification.
