The Bartlett Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for a black 2000 Ford F-150 truck sought in an ongoing investigation. It’s an extended-cab (step-side) pickup with a hardtop bed cover, and it has a Tennessee tag 45TF92 (Titans plate).
It’s believed that suspect Marcus Perry used it to transport evidence from the Bartlett area to the area of Courtland, Miss. (specifically Highway 35 between Batesville and Courtland). BPD evidence shows that the suspect operated the vehicle in that area around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.
Perry is the man found dead of a gunshot wound in his Bartlett home on Oct. 11. A forensic analysis of his cell phone provided persuasive evidence that led officers to believe liquor store owner Sanjay “Sam” Patel is also dead. A search of the home uncovered more substantiating evidence.
Patel was last seen on Oct. 3 around 10:30 p.m. getting into a black truck leaving the Five Star Liquor and Wine, 2821 N. Houston Levee Road, Cordova. His son reportedly said his father was seen on surveillance video with Perry, whose home is a few miles from the store.
Perry’s body was found face down, and he was holding a handgun pointed to his head.
Anyone who saw the truck in the Batesville/Courtland area of Mississippi or who has any information about the truck or Perry should call one of the following BPD contacts:
• Detective J. Reames at (901) 385-5529, Ext. 2109
• Capt. C. Page at (901) 385-5529, Ext. 2100
