Bartlett is fortunate to have two representatives in the 2017 Miss Tennessee USA competition.
Jaclyn Canerdy, 16, of Bartlett will compete for the title on Oct. 6, 7 and 8 at the Austin Peay State University in Clarksville.
She will be competing under the title Miss Memphis Teen USA during the state event.
Elizabeth DeLaney, also of Bartlett, will be competing as Miss Bartlett Tennessee Teen USA.
Miss Tennessee Teen USA and Miss Tennessee USA pageants are the official preliminaries to the Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants and are a WME/ IMG joint venture. The young woman chosen as Miss Tenn essee USA 2017 will go on to represent the state in the 2017 Miss USA pageant as seen live on national television.
Canerdy is the daughter of Barbara and Jim Canerdy. She attends Bartlett High School and is a highly involved student athlete with a 3.9 GPA. Her extracurricular activities include DECA, FBLA, Key Club, Track & Field, and National Honor Society.
She a health and nutrition enthusiast, loves to travel, and lives life to the fullest. In her free time, she is either in the gym or trying new things. Some interesting activities Canerdy participates in include parasailing, skydiving, snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, scuba diving and boxing.
Her sponsors for the pageant include Special Event Services & Rental Inc. and Pro Health Wellness.
Delaney hopes to raise awareness for something that is near to her heart, cancer research. By competing, she hopes that young women will see that they can be confident in their own body, no matter what society says. Per competition requirements, she raised some of her own funds but noted that all monies not used will be donated to research for pancreatic cancer, which claimed her grandmother, Joyce Austin.
She commented, “I look forward to representing not only the greatest state in America but my awesome hometown Bartlett!”
