The Bartlett Police Department handled the following incidents for Sept. 12-18. This listing includes the most notable incidents for the reporting period and does not necessarily reflect all police activity.

Sept. 12
Barrycrest Drive (theft from a motor vehicle)
A man returned from an out-of-town trip to a nasty surprise. Someone had stolen his Callaway golf club set ($1,200) and his Springfield XDm 9mm pistol ($800) from his unlocked GMC pickup that was parked in his driveway. He said the theft happened between 8:30 p.m. Sept. 8 and noon Sept. 12.
Montpelier Drive (theft)
Someone stole a man’s wallet when he accidentally left it behind at the Bartlett Recreation Center on Sept. 11. He believes the theft happened around 5 p.m., but he didn’t notice his wallet was missing until later that night. He reported the crime on Sept. 12.
The wallet contained $10 in cash, three credit/debit cards and his driver’s license. He canceled the cards and said no fraudulent charges had been attempted.
Bartlett Boulevard (armed robbery)
A Payless Shoes clerk said a male and female team robbed him at gunpoint just before 8 p.m. Sept. 12.
At first, they asked where the socks were, and the man went to the back of the store while the woman remained up front by the register. When the man returned, she bought the socks for $10.96 in cash. When the drawer opened, the man pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the clerk, warning him to stay back. The woman reached into the register and took the cash. The suspects ran northbound on Bartlett Boulevard toward Kroger (5995 Stage Road).
Sept. 14
Billy Maher Road (vandalism)
One or more vandals did $1,330 worth of damage to outside lighting at Bartlett Elementary School, as reported on Sept. 14. Someone broke seven of the lights ($190 each) on the northeast side of the building. The vandalism happened between 6 a.m. Sept. 9 and 6 a.m. Sept. 14.
Bristol Park Circle (burglary)
A maintenance man discovered a burglarized home on Sept. 14 while stopping by to replace a carbon monoxide detector. He saw the garage door was open and the entry door from the garage into the residence was ajar. His supervisor came to the scene, viewed the ransacked residence and called police.
Note: The service employees didn’t have access to the tenant’s garage door openers and only use the unit’s front doors to enter for repairs.
The responding officer saw tool marks on the door strike on the garage side of the entry door leading into the home. Multiple items had been rifled through and disturbed, particularly the victim’s bedroom and bathroom. Items taken included about 250 Blu-Ray DVDs, a black-and-silver HP laptop, an unopened 50-inch Samsung TV, a Blu-Ray player, two Wii remotes, multiple items of jewelry, an iPod and cash.
Sept. 16
Thistle Cove (auto burglary)
Someone stolen nearly $2,000 worth of tools from a man’s unlocked toolbox in his truck bed, the victim reported on Sept. 16. Items taken included a blow torch and gas tank ($400), vacuum pump ($300), drum of freon ($600), Milwaukee drill driver and drill set ($200), Skil reciprocating saw ($60) and tool bag containing various hand tools ($400).
He said the theft must have happened between midnight and 7 a.m. that day.
