Bartlett Boulevard (auto burglary)

A woman using W.J. Freeman Park the morning of Aug. 10 found that locking her purse in her trunk wasn’t enough to deter a determined burglar.

It contained a wallet ($10), Social Security card, multiple debit and credit cards, a Tennessee driver’s license ($15) and learner’s permit, and another handbag that contained $33 in cash.

The responding officer found that the suspect probably entered the unlocked vehicle and used the interior lever to pop the trunk open; there was no damage to the vehicle.

When the victim cancelled her cards and checked transaction history, she learned that someone had twice tried and failed to use her Discover card at Circle K at 2114 Covington Pike, Memphis at 8:47 a.m.
