New Neighbors’ President Vicki McLean presented the organization’s 2016 Nat Watson Community Commitment Award to Sidna Bookout of Collierville at a luncheon earlier this year.
The award is presented to a member who is not currently serving on the board who goes above and beyond what is expected in service to New Neighbors and her community.
Bookout moved to the greater Memphis area with her husband Marvin 10 years ago and joined New Neighbors almost immediately.
In the community, Bookout currently serves as vice president of Friends of the Collierville Burch Library, where she also works in the used bookstore and at used book sales, co-chairs her homeowners’ association social committee, works for the Shelby County Election Commission during local elections and volunteers for WKNO Public Television pledge fund drives and special events.
During her membership in New Neighbors, Bookout has served two terms as Ways and Means chair and two terms as president.
She has also served as the luncheon vice president, parliamentarian, and publicity chair. She is joining the Board of Directors again for 2016-17 as the newsletter editor.
