Bartlett residents and visitors enjoyed a sky full of splendor on July 4 at the city’s Star Spangled Fireworks Extravaganza. Events kicked off at 6 p.m. with fireworks at 9:10 p.m. at the Bobby K. Flaherty Municipal Center at U.S. 70 and Appling Road.
Attractions included music, a car display, children’s activities, concessions, and more. The evening kicked off with an opening ceremony with the Posting of the Colors by the Bartlett Police Department Honor Guard, the singing of the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States. Next came the welcome by Bartlett Mayor A. Keith McDonald and a recognition of elected officials, members of the military, veterans and their families in attendance. Music by the Bartlett Community Concert Band, as well as Jamie Baker & the VIPs, entertained the crowd. Then came the night’s main attraction — 20 minutes of fireworks.
All activities were on the lawn of the Bartlett Performing Arts & Conference Center (BPACC) and Appling Middle School.
In honor of the city’s sesquicentennial, Bartlett brought out its stage coach for photos. Merchandise celebrating the city’s 150th birthday was also for sale, including T-shirts, golf shirts, baseball caps and golf towels.
