Back Yard marks Burger Month, reaches for $50K charity goal
Local fast-casual burger restaurant Back Yard Burgers held activities all May long in honor of National Burger Month. BYB teamed up with No Kid Hungry and committed to raising $100,000 location-wide for the cause this year, with $50,000 aimed to be raised by the end of May.
To get fans in the Burger Month spirit, they also also launched a petition to change the name of the month of May to Burger.
Back Yard Burgers also held two burger-making events in Franklin, Tenn., and Southaven, Miss., on May 23 to help celebrate National Burger Month. The contests featured community leaders battling it out to make the ultimate gourmet burger using unique ingredients in order to become the “Flame-Grilled Master Chef.”

HSH.com, an online mortgage resource, has published its Home Price Recovery Index, which gauges which housing markets have fully recovered (or more) and which still lag behind the housing recovery.
For the Memphis-TN-MS-AR region, HSH.com says it is 0.95 percent below peak.
For the index, the site used the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) Home Price Index as a basis, beginning in 1991 and running through the first quarter of 2016.
The site also includes a Home Value Estimator that lets visitors select their market and the timeframe in which they have owned their homes to estimate how changes in the local market have impacted values. See details online at bit.ly/HSH-on-MEM.
