Wolfchase shoplifting, shooting lead to arrest in Bartlett Monday

A shoplifting reported at City Gear at the Wolfchase Mall Monday afternoon led to a customer chasing the shoplifter, a struggle and the customer opening fire on the suspect.

The shoplifter was not hit, and he ran across U.S. 64 into Bartlett where he reportedly attempted to carjack two different vehicles.

The vehicles were a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 van and a 2012 Nissan Rogue.

Bartlett Police officers arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect, Nathan Williams, a resident on the 7900 block of U.S. 64 in Bartlett.

His age, birthdate and description were not provided in the BPD’s redacted arrest report.
Williams was charged with carjacking, theft from a motor vehicle and vandalism under $500.

Victims included Spencer Brown, 22; Cody Buckler, 24; Richard Jenkins, 28; and Buffy Crabb, 39. The victims’ cities of residence were not available through the redacted police report.
