This listing includes the most notable incidents for the reporting period and does not necessarily reflect all police activity.

These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
Jan. 11
Brunswick Forest Drive (theft)
A man reported Jan. 11 that several loads of roofing shingles ($1,500) and boxes of nails ($150) were missing from a construction site at Brunswick Forest Drive.
The owner said he doesn’t know the last time he saw the missing items and is not sure when they went missing.
Memphis Arlington Road (cruelty to animals)
Officers met at the home of an alleged animal hoarder at 8 a.m. on Jan. 11, along with Bartlett Animal Control and the Humane Society of Shelby County, which drew up the warrant.
Animal Control took 45 cats and one dog from the home, which was on the 7100 block of Memphis Arlington Road. [Editor’s note: A statement released by the City of Bartlett on Jan. 19 updated the total number of pets to 49 cats and one dog.]
Bartlett Code Enforcement also condemned the structure for human habitation because of the amount of animal feces and urine in the home.
Because of the high volume of cats taken into the Bartlett Animal Shelter, the facility will be doing half-price adoptions until the end of January, taking the price to $47.50.
Jan. 13
U.S. 70 (property damage complaint)
A man reported his suspicions on Jan. 13 that someone tried to break into his silver 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer. He didn’t see anyone tampering with the vehicle but noticed damages he couldn’t account for.
He estimated that the damage occurred between 8 p.m. Jan. 12 and 7 a.m. Jan. 13.
The responding officer noted that there was minor damage on the driver’s side door, but it appeared to be from someone opening the door and striking an unknown object.
The responding officer did not find evidence to suggest that someone attempted to make entry into the vehicle. The complainant requested a report for his records.
Jan. 14
Star Valley (theft)
A resident on Star Valley reported on Jan. 14 that someone had stolen two front wheels and tires from his white 2002 BMW 320i, and he pointed to a specific suspect.
The victim explained that he agreed to repair the suspect’s vehicle for $800 a couple of months ago. He received $400 up front and was to get the rest when he finished the job.
Before he could finish, the suspect said the repair was taking too long, and he demanded his vehicle and money back.
The victim said he returned the vehicle but refused to return any money because of the amount of work he had already completed.
He said the suspect became irate and threatened that he would get his money from him somehow.
The wheels and tires were stolen between noon and 8 p.m. on Jan. 9, the victim said.
Jan. 15
Delaney Valley Lane (property damage)
A woman reported on Jan. 15 that she was traveling eastbound on Old Brownsville Road near Shira Road when a deer appeared. She said the animal struck her driver’s side door, putting a large dent in it.
She did not report any injuries, and she drove the car away from the scene.
Jan. 16
Elmore Road (auto burglary)
A man said on Jan. 16 that someone had broken into his truck and stole more than $500 in weapons and equipment.
He said someone pried open the driver’s side door and took his Streamlight flashlight ($100), two full 30-round AR-15 magazines ($130) and a SCCY 9mm handgun ($300).
Jan. 17
Stage Road (theft)
Someone stole all four of a man’s wheels and tires while he was watching a movie at Hollywood Cinema (6711 Stage Road). He reported the incident on Jan. 17, saying the theft occurred between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The responding officer observed the man’s Dodge Charger parked on the east side of the parking lot, toward the front of the business. It was sitting on four unattached old rubber tires, and there were no wheels or tires mounted on the vehicle.
