Honors


  • The University of Dayton in Ohio has named Katherine McCaffery of Arlington to its fall 2015 dean’s list, which honors undergraduate students achieving a minimum 3.5 GPA for the semester.
  • Shorter University in Rome, Ga., has named Portia McManis of Arlington to the fall 2015 dean’s list. To achieve this honor, students must have been enrolled full time and have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term.
  • Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., has named the following students to the fall 2015 dean’s list: Hannah Misenheimer, Celine Rone and Christina Thomas, all of Arlington; and Benjamin Nielsen of Bartlett. Students named to the list earned at least a 3.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit, achieved no grade below a B and received no failing grades in enrolled, credit/no credit or pass/fail courses.
  • Berry College of Rome, Ga., has named John Tucker of Arlington to the fall 2015 dean’s list.
    Eligible students must have posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.
  • Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Miss., has named William Wright of Arlington to the fall 2015 dean’s list. Northwest also named Jessica Welch of Arlington to the president’s list. Those students completing 12 or more semester hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a four-point system are on the president’s list. The dean’s list includes students completing a minimum of 12 semester hours with a 3.50 to 3.74 average.

Graduations


  • Camille D. Brown, granddaughter of Emerson and Dorothy Brown of Millington, and daughter of Judge Dan Brown and Linda Brown of Bartlett, graduated from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center at its December 2015 commencement with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Camille previously graduated from The University of Memphis in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude) with a major in biology. Brown was employed as a research assistant at The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry before nursing school. She has accepted a nursing position with Methodist Hospital Germantown. Brown is a 2008 graduate of Bolton High School.
  • Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) in Dyersburg, Tenn., recently held its 53rd nursing pinning ceremony for 35 nursing graduates in the traditional nursing program on Dec. 11 at the First Baptist Church of Covington. A total of 1,460 nursing students have graduated from DSCC over the past 35 years. Among the 35 graduates of DSCC’s December 2015 traditional nursing class were Tammy Brooks and Kari Osborne, both of Arlington; and Martha Karunda and Jennifer Rodgers, both of Bartlett.

Acceptances


  • Chris Fayne of Bartlett has been accepted to Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tenn., for the upcoming academic year. Fayne is a current student at Bolton High School. Tennessee Wesleyan is a private, comprehensive institution grounded in the liberal arts and affiliated with the United Methodist Church. It is located in Athens, Tennessee, only 45 minutes from Knoxville or Chattanooga.
