Young singer with big voice to perform Nov. 14

The Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center wil host a performance by 12-year-old Emi Sunshine who has wowed them at the Grand Ol’ Opry and the Today Show. She performs at 8 p.m. Nov. 14. For details, see bpacc.org/149/EMI-SUNSHINE.

Charity gears up for shoebox gifts to ship overseas

Locations across Bartlett and surrounding communities will soon become local drop-off points for the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child.

During National Collection Week, Nov. 16-23, each site will collect shoeboxes packed with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement from generous donors.

This year, project coordinators from Bartlett and surrounding area hope to collect 28,000 shoebox gifts to deliver to children in need overseas.

Children invited to pet therapy at the library

Tootsie, the Bartlett Library Reading Dog, and her owner will be at the Bartlett Library Nov. 28. Hours will be 10 a.m.-noon for children ages 5-11 to read with the pet in 15-minute increments. Call the Bartlett Library at (901) 386-8968 for an appointment.

DA to tackle cyberbullying at 2 SBA talks on Nov. 17

St. Benedict High School at Auburndale (SBA) will host Shelby County district attorney Amy Weirich on Nov. 17 for two talks.

She will present her “Scared Straight” talk on cyberbullying to students at 10 a.m. At 7 p.m., she will give parents and educators the same talk and host a Q & A session.

‘Great Gatsby’ gala to benefit BACC Nov. 13 in Cordova

The Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) will hosts its annual chamber gala with “The Great Gatsy” as the 2015 theme.

The event will be 6:30-10 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Colonial Country Club, 2736 Countrywood Park-way, Cordova.

Attendees will pay $35 for admission for an evening of food, fun and dancing to the sounds of Rockin’ Robin DJs. The event also is the chamber’s largest silent auction, so attendees are encouraged to think “Christmas presents” when shopping.
