Hundreds expected in largest youth wrestling tourney in country

The Arlington Youth Wrestling program will be hosting one of the largest youth wrestling tournaments in Shelby County wrestling history January 26 at Hope Presbyterian Church in Cordova.

According to organizer Chris Nettleton, more than 350 wrestling families are expected to attend from as far away as East Tennessee’s District One as well as neighboring states.

Built as a feeder program to Arlington High School’s wrestling program as well as raise community awareness and interest in youth level wrestling, Arlington Youth Wrestling competes in both USAW and AAU events throughout the region. The program also hosts a three-day wrestling camp each spring for both beginner and experienced wrestlers.

Nearly 40 young people currently compete for the club.
