Bartlett traded points with Germantown early in the game Friday night at home. However, a costly turnover in the second quarter proved to be too much for the Panthers to overcome, as Bartlett fell 26-18 to the Red Devils.
The first touchdown of the game came in the first quarter on a 3-yard run by Germantown running back Davinci Leavy, who finished the game with 65 yards on 11 carries. Germantown failed to make the extra-point kick.
Bartlett responded with a 59-yard touchdown run from LaMarcus Young, who would finish the game with an impressive 139 yards on 22 carries, or more than six yards per carry. The Panthers also failed to convert the extra-point kick.
Before the quarter was over, Germantown scored again on another run in the red zone. This time Jalin Robinson got the nod.
The Panthers put more points on the scoreboard at the beginning of the second quarter with another touchdown run from Young, this time from the 27 yard line. However, the Red Devils would snatch back the momentum before halftime with a 41-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Marcus Mitchell to Jacob Ivey and a 49-yard fumble recovery courtesy of junior linebacker Bobby Payne.
With the score 26-12 at the half, neither team was able to score in the third quarter. Late in the fourth, Bartlett receiver Marquavius Weaver caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from quarterback J.J. Vaden. However, it was not enough to affect the game’s outcome.
