9/11 remembrance

Events celebrate national anthem, remember the nation’s 9/11 fallen

Children at area schools participated in a nation-wide sing-along of the national anthem at noon Central time on Sept. 11, including Arlington Middle School and at least six Bartlett schools.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the anthem.

At Altruria Elementary in Bartlett, children gathered for the school’s annual 9/11 service and included the sing-along as part of the ceremony this year.

Arlington Middle School singers gathered in the front office to raise their voices to the national anthem too.

The nationwide simultaneous singing of The Star-Spangled Banner was coordinated by the American Public Education Foundation (APEF), which hopes to break the Guinness Book of World Records simultaneous sing-a-long of the national anthem. Learn more about the movement at theapef.org.
