LSS on brink of signing school land contracts
Lakeland School System Superintendent Dr. Ted Horrell told the school board Monday that contract negotiations to purchase land for the middle school are nearly complete. The board set a special-called meeting at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at Lakeland City Hall for action.
Breakfast set for Aug. 13 to honor astronaut
The Girl Scouts Heart of the South (the regional council) is among the hosts of a reception for a former astronaut on Aug. 13. They are helping to host the event for Leland Melvin 5:30-7 p.m. at the Hutchison School’s Weiner Theater, 1740 Ridgeway Road, Memphis. Girl Scouts will also be the spotlight charity at a breakfast featuring Melvin on Aug. 14 at the Germantown Performing Arts Center.
