Bartlett Police reports for Aug. 3-9, 2015

The Bartlett Police Department (BPD) handled the following incidents for Aug. 3-9.

These are the most notable cases of the week and do not necessarily represent all BPD activities for the time period.

Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.


Aug. 3


Teaberry Lane (aggravated burglary)

A woman reported that someone kicked in her front door and stole multiple items between 6:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Aug. 3.

The responding officers saw that her front door frame was broken and the door was open. Two TVs ($300), $400 in cash and various items of jewelry were stolen.

Stage Road (business burglary)

A man found his business already unlocked when he stopped by to drop off some cleaning supplies at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 3.

He reported the following items stolen: iPod ($300), docking station ($100), red vase ($20), vending machine money ($100), two gumball machines ($200) with about $50 in each, four all-purpose styling chairs ($1,600), A 42-inch Vizio smart TV ($600), desktop computer ($200), MacAir Laptop ($1,000), three stand-up dryers ($900) and four sit-down dryers ($1,200).


Aug. 4


Fiske Valley (burglary)

Someone reported the front door was open Aug. 4 on a Fiske Valley house that is on the market, and the responding officer saw that the front door had been pried open.

He noticed extensive damage to the mahogany doors with a Schlage door lock set ($1,700).

The Whirlpool electric stove/oven ($800) was missing from the kitchen.

The hallway from the kitchen to the garage was damaged ($100), possibly where the burglar dragged the stove. Regency Homebuilders sent a representative to the home site.


Aug. 5


Hunters Meadow (property damage)

A vandal damaged fencing at a Hunters Meadow residence between 11 p.m. Aug. 4 and about 6 a.m. Aug. 5.

The fence is a brown three-runner fence with posts. Someone knocked out and broke two runners in one section of the fence and knocked over one of the posts ($125).


Aug. 6


Yale Road (auto burglary)

A woman reported Aug. 6 that someone had stolen her blue Kohl’s purse from her car while she was walking her child into day care at Christ Church (5955 Yale Road).

The purse contained a Tennessee driver’s license, an Apple iPhone 5 with a turquoise case, Baptist Hospital work badge and keys, debit and credit cards from Regions Bank, Target credit card, Kohl’s credit card and Capital One credit card.

The “Find My iPhone” app allowed the phone to be located and recovered on the 5900 block of Memphis-Arlington Road.

Someone used her Regions card for a $42.61 purchase after the purse was stolen.

U.S. 64 (theft from motor vehicle)

A man reported that someone stole audio equipment from his Chevrolet Tahoe while it was at the Serra Chevrolet service center (7850 U.S. 64) between Aug. 3 and Aug. 6.

The item stolen was a Kenwood X500-1 stereo amplifier ($600).

There was no suspect information at the time of the report, and there were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle. The owner said he locked the vehicle’s doors after leaving it at the center.


Aug. 7


U.S. 70 (theft)

A resident on Windolyn Circle North reported Aug. 7 that someone stole $400 in cash from her vehicle.

She had just cashed her paycheck and left the envelope of cash in the pocket of her driver’s side door while she shopped in Walgreens (8097 U.S. 70).

She noticed the money was gone while she was en route to Taco Bell.

Stage Road (intoxicated party)

Responding to a complaint, an officer found an intoxicated man sitting in his vehicle at Grand Pacific Buffet (6105 Stage Road) around 7:30 p.m. Aug. 7.

The officer could smell the alcohol on the suspect as he approached the vehicle. When the man tried to step out of the vehicle, he staggered and stumbled, requiring the officer to reach out and help him stay upright.

The officer frisked the man and found a Kahr .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol in a pocket holster in the man’s front right pocket. The pistol contained a loaded magazine, and the man had a second loaded magazine in his front left pocket.

The man admitted he had drunk a few beers. The officer deemed that the man couldn’t care for himself because of his level of intoxication. The man was arrested and transported to the Bartlett City Jail.


Aug. 8


Falmouth Road (motor vehicle theft)

A man reported that someone took his motorcycle from his carport between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 7 and about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 8 while he was gone.

The bike is a 2001 Suzuki Intruder motorcycle that did not run and that he had considered selling.

There are no known suspects, and the responding officer didn’t see any tire marks in the grass surrounding the carport.

The stolen vehicle’s information was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

Lauren Ashley Cove (auto burglary)

A woman reported that someone broke out the driver’s window on her locked car and stole her wallet.

The crime occurred sometime between 11:30 p.m. Aug. 7 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 8. The car, a 2014 white Honda Civic, was locked and parked in the driveway.


Aug. 9


Hunters Meadow (residential burglary)

A man reported that someone stole yard and home maintenance equipment from his attached garage sometime over the past three weeks. He said he leaves his garage door open frequently.

The items tolen include a Toro weed trimmer ($200), Toro blower ($150) and pressure washer ($600). There was no sign of forced entry into the garage.
