Bartlett to show ‘Finding Nemo’ in park Friday

Movies in the ParkIt’s a fish-friendly weekend in Bartlett! Join families to enjoy a free night of “Finding Nemo” on the big outdoor screen at W.J. Freeman Park (2629 Bartlett Boulevard).

gone-fishing-signWho doesn’t like throwing a line in the pond and seeing how fat of a fish you can catch? Bartlett and Lakeland children are in luck this weekend with two fun and free fishing rodeos.

Bartlett youngsters get that chance 6-9 a.m. this Saturday at the city’s Children’s Fishing Rodeo, with trophies awarded afterward and followed by family activities sponsored by Youth Villages.

The free event will be at Appling Lake at the Bobby K. Flaherty Municipal Center, 3663 Appling Road.Participants must either pre-register at Gator Brown’s Bait & Tackle (6816 U.S. 70 in Bartlett) or register at the event.

Lakeland’s Annual Children’s Fishing Rodeo for ages 4-12 begins at 8 a.m. this Saturday at the International Harvester (I.H.) Managerial Park in Lakeland.

Anglers will fish in seven 15-minute sessions, and there will be a prize at every session. Trophies will also be given out for the longest fish, most fish caught by a boy and most fish caught by a girl.

Participants can pre-register at Hall or at lakelandtn.gov, or they can register on site at 7:15 a.m.

Junior fishermen are invited to bring a pole and bait. First Baptist Church is also letting participants park in its lot for the event.
