
Underaged purchases of alcohol and tobacco and multiple thefts were among the incidents the Bartlett Police Department (BPD) handled from May 8 through May 15.
Editor’s note: All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports.
May 8
Multiple business locations (underage purchases of alcohol or tobacco)
On May 8, BPD’s Investigative Services Division (ISD) conducted underage alcohol and tobacco buys in the city of Bartlett.
The following businesses sold tobacco to underage minors working under the direction of the BPD:

The following places sold alcohol to minors working under the direction of the BPD:

May 12
Cana Hill Cove (unauthorized use of a vehicle)
A resident on Cana Hill Cove reported his daughter on May 12 for not returning his vehicle on time. He loaned her the use of his Chevrolet from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on May 11, but she did not return home that night.
May 13
Star Crest Drive (theft of a trailer)
A man who operates a lawn service reported on May 13 that someone stole his trailer and all of his lawn equipment ($18,900) from his driveway on Star Crest Drive.
The victim said he parked the 6-by-14-foot trailer in his driveway, and it was stolen sometime between 9 a.m. and 3:55 p.m. that day.
The trailer ($3,800) has two axles, high walls with an open rear and no gate.
Lawn equipment stolen included a 60-inch commercial zero-turn riding mower of unknown brand ($10,000), four Husqvarna commercial weed trimmers ($500 each), three Husq-varna commercial backpack blowers ($500 each) and two Husqvarna 21-inch mowers ($800 each).
Maggie Oaks Cove (theft from motor vehicle)
Someone broke into a car, rummaged through its contents and stole items while it was parked in front of a Maggie Oaks Cove home.
The victim said he parked the car around 9 p.m. May 12 and returned at 9 a.m. the next morning to find the vehicle’s center console open and its contents strewn throughout the car, and the cable ($10) that he used for connecting his phone to his radio was stolen.
Later in the day, he discovered that someone also had stolen his light brown/ orange longboard ($120) from the trunk. He believes he left the vehicle’s doors unlocked; there was no sign of forced entry.
May 14
Shadow View (theft)
On May 14, a victim reported that someone stole lawn equipment totaling $2,685 from his home’s attached garage on Shadow View.
The theft happened between 2:30 p.m. (when his daughter returned from school and left the garage door open) and 6:30 p.m. May 13, when the man returned home.
Items stolen included a Stihl weed trimmer ($550), backpack leaf blower ($565), hedge trimmer ($450), a trimmer ($370) and a Toro push mower ($750).
Via Lopez Drive (theft)
Someone entered the unsecured attached garage of a home on Via Lopez on May 14 and stole a Troy-Bilt 475_SS weed trimmer ($300). The victim said the incident occurred around 11:50 a.m. that day.
May 15
U.S. 64 (theft from motor vehicle)
A woman said someone broke into her boyfriend’s vehicle while it was parked at Abuelo’s (8274 U.S. 64) on May 15 between 11:30 a.m. and 2:05 p.m.
The suspect broke the driver’s front window out ($300) and took a Pioneer CD player ($800) and $6 in cash from the front seat.
The total amount of damage and theft is about $1,306. The responding officer also noted that there appeared to be some window frame damage.
August Drive (theft from a motor vehicle)
An August Drive resident reported on May 15 that someone had stolen a driveshaft bracket from his truck, a 2002 GMC Sierra.
He said the theft occurred between 6 p.m. May 14 and 6:30 a.m. May 15 while the truck was parked in his driveway.
The victim said that when he cranked the vehicle that morning, the driveshaft came apart.
He had the truck towed, and a mechanic discovered that someone must have unbolted the bracket and removed it.
There was no damage to the rest of the truck.
