Sarah Hogan, a native of Bartlett and and student at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, was part of a team that went on a mission trip to San Francisco last month.
Ten Trevecca students went to the San Francisco Bay Area to minister to poverty-stricken immigrants, the homeless and people with HIV.
They went to two different service sites each day, worked at a food bank, spent time on the street talking with homeless people, delivered meals to shut-ins, and volunteered at a day school and a hospital.
“It was out of my comfort zone, and I wanted to challenge myself to grow in a spiritual level while serving the kingdom of God,” Hogan said. “In addition to learning more about the community of the San Francisco Bay area, I made so many new friends and our team became so close over the week.”
Hogan, a junior and business administration major is the Peer Mentor, student body vice president. She is a graduate of St. Benedict at Auburndale Catholic High School and is the daughter of Holley and David Cary and Chuck Hogan.
Trevecca has a 70-acre campus and serves 2,600 students.
