Bartlett doctor: Adventia helps employers handle healthcare costs

Adventia LogoMEMPHIS, Tenn. — Adventia LLC announced on April 21 that it has expanded its staff, extended its reach into Middle Tennessee, and rebranded to help employers more effectively confront chronic disease risks and health care costs.

“The best way to treat the human and financial costs of diabetes, heart attacks and strokes is to avoid them,” said Adventia medical director and Bartlett resident Dr. David B. Wright, whose prevention focus during 25+ years in private practice kept patients healthier and out of the hospital longer — 14 years longer, as one hospital system determined in 2010. “Adventia was created to act on that prescription.”

“Our strategic relationships with Cleveland HeartLab, Provant Health, Diagnostic Partners and PCS Medical Solutions enable us to deliver customized solutions for corporate clients of any size, anywhere in the country,” Wright said.

He continued, “And we’re pleased to be delivering tangible, life-changing results, lowering health risks and preventing disease among employees and helping constrain costs and reduce health care spending for employers.”

Adventia has sharpened its focus on workforce health transformation and launched a new web site, adventiaforlife.com, which reflects the company’s prowess and value.

“Disease prevention makes common sense,” said Adventia chief executive officer Shannan Purser. “We’re reaching people where they work, through their employers, to make it common practice.”

“Diabetes, heart attacks and strokes are destroying lives and driving 50 percent or more of health care spending at companies in Nashville, Memphis and other cities around the country,” said Purser, a registered dietician, certified diabetes educator and seasoned health coach. “We use advanced science and technology to identify disease risks early, so they can be prevented.”

Tennessee native Kent C. Cooper has joined the company as executive vice president of sales. During his distinguished career, Cooper led corporate sales for industry leaders like IBM, Siebel Systems, and Burson-Marsteller around the world. He helped establish and lead IBM’s Business Consulting Services in Europe and was one of Siebel Systems top sales leaders in Europe. Cooper spent the first half of his career on assignment for Burson-Marsteller in North America and Asia-Pacific.

Adventia is currently looking at office and lab space in the Brentwood area of Nashville.

Adventia is expanding at a time when average annual premiums for employer-sponsored family health coverage reached $16,834 in the past year, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, and when workers on average paid $4,823 annually toward the cost of family coverage.

Adventia, LLC is a closely held, Memphis-based company founded in 2012 to prevent costly chronic diseases and life-threatening events by reaching people where they work. Adventia uses advanced science and technology to prevent diabetes, heart attacks and strokes through early health-risk detection and customized, behavior-changing interventions. These are among the leading causes of death and leading drivers of health care costs.
