Multi-culturalism celebrated at Lakeland Elementary

During February, Lakeland Elementary wanted to showcase the diversity of its students. Students who wereborn in another country or had family from another country were invited to take home a box to decorate and fill with artifacts representing their culture.

Over 55 boxes were returned to Mrs. Cockcroft, the ESL teacher.

Over 16 countries were represented by the projects the students completed with their families. Each box was on display for all to see for the entire month.

Another fun way LES celebrated multicultural month was during morning announcements. Each morning, the students who speak another language participated in giving the school announcements in their native language.

That is too cool. Thanks for the share, I think every school should do more like this. It is so important to embrace the multi-cultural aspects of their schools. Definitely will share and try to recreate in my own school.
