MUNFORD — The champions of Region 7-3A Basketball were crowned tonight on the court of the Munford Gymnasium.
In girls’ action, the Arlington Lady Tigers outlasted the Bartlett Lady Panthers 48-44. And the boys’ champions are the Bolton Wildcats, beating the Arlington Tigers 59-53.
The MVP of the girls tournament was Arlington’s Mirrakohl Johnson. Boys’ MVP was Jaylen Fisher of Bolton.
Fisher was on the bench with four fouls late in the third quarter with his team trailing 47-40. The Wildcats used a 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to take the lead 51-47. Rebounding and foul shooting helped Bolton outscore Arlington 8-6 to earn the Region 7-3A title and host a Sectional game Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The Tigers will travel Tuesday to the winner of the Region 8-3A Tournament.
Meanwhile the Lady Tigers earned the right to host a Sectional game Monday night at 7 p.m. behind clutch shots from Raegyn Branch in the fourth quarter to edge out Bartlett.
The Lady Panthers will take to the road Monday night for Sub-State against the Region 8-3A champ.
