The Bartlett Police Department handled these and other incidents for the period of Feb. 5-11, 2018.

All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and values are estimated for stolen/damaged items. These are brief summaries of detailed BPD reports. Incidents are listed in order of the dates they were reported.
Feb. 5
Marr Cove (vandalism)
A woman reported hearing a big boom at her home around 3:30 a.m., but she fell back asleep. Later that morning, she discovered that the side door to the garage had been pried open. She didn’t notice that anything was taken.
Shelby Street (auto burglary)
Someone broke into one of a company’s electric trucks and stole about $6,200 worth of tools from the victims.
Shelby Street (auto theft)
A complainant reported that someone stole a company’s electric truck, a 1997 GMC 1500. It went missing between about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 2 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 5.
Montpelier Drive (theft)
A woman alleged that her babysitter of the past three weeks has stolen multiple items and cash from her home. She first noticed items missing about two weeks ago and confronted the babysitter, who denied the thefts.
Briarhill Drive (non-residential burglary)
A woman reported that someone entered her unlocked storage building in her back yard without permission. A one-gallon paint can inside was crushed, but nothing was stolen and there was no damage to the building.
Feb. 6
U.S. 70 (trailer theft)
A man reported that his trailer was stolen from his driveway on U.S. 70 between about 8:25 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. He described it as an empty 15-foot single-axle trailer.
Feb. 7
Hollister Cove (theft)
A woman reported that someone pried open the locked back door of her home and stole the stove.
Kirby Whitten Parkway: A woman said half her pills were missing from a prescription she picked up from Kroger Pharmacy (2942 Kirby Whitten Parkway) on Feb. 1. She didn’t notice that 30 pills were missing until about an hour after she got home.
U.S. 64 (vehicle theft)
A man who left his car briefly unattended at the Circle K gas station (8110 U.S. 64) said it was stolen. He arrived at the gas station around 10:55 p.m. While his 2014 white Chevrolet Camaro was fueling up, he left it running with the keys in the ignition and went to his mother’s vehicle to retrieve some clothes. Someone took the opportunity to steal his car and drive southbound on Germantown Road.
The victim’s aunt said she saw a black SUV and a black four-door sedan pull in behind the victim. A female was the sedan’s driver, and there were about four males in the SUV. She saw a male with ear-length dreads get into the Camaro, and all three cars drove off.
Feb. 9
Kate Bond Road (motor vehicle theft)
A man reported arriving at the ambulance bay entrance of Saint Francis Hospital – Bartlett with his sick wife just before 3 p.m. on Feb. 9, grabbing a wheelchair for her and taking her into the hospital. He left his green 2002 Chevy Silverado parked with the keys in the ignition. A witness reported seeing a young male wearing a hat, brown coat and blue jeans enter the truck and speed away.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department reported around 2:30 a.m. Feb. 10 that the vehicle had been located and the suspect had been arrested for theft of property.
Feb. 10
Daybreak Cove (theft)
A man said someone stole the license plate from his pickup truck. He said it went missing sometime after he left for work on Feb. 9. The exact location and time of the theft is unknown.
Village Lake Cove (prowler)
A woman reported a harrowing experience on the highway and at her home. She said she was driving near Canada Road and U.S. 70 when an unknown vehicle bumped her vehicle from the back. An unknown suspect walked up to her vehicle and asked her to get out. She did, and another unknown person pulled a firearm, forced her back into her vehicle and told her to drive home. She parked in her garage, and the suspect forced her into the house. The suspect then directed into the laundry room, and she closed the door behind her.
She said she could hear one or more suspects ransacking the home for about an hour before she heard the front door open. She retrieved her phone and called 911.
The responding officers noted that the house was thoroughly ransacked, including the cutting open of the couch’s underpinning covers. They also noted that it didn’t appear that any property of value was taken.
Feb. 11
U.S. 64 (theft from motor vehicle)
Victims reported parking on the west side of a business and leaving their vehicle unlocked. When they returned about an hour later, several belonging were missing from the vehicle, and change was scattered on the driver’s seat.
Kirby Whitten Road (crash)
A man reported around 6:30 p.m. that someone in another car intentionally struck his vehicle after an argument.
He was traveling south, exiting the Kroger property east of the Chick-fil-A construction site along Kirby Whitten Parkway when he and a northbound suspect nearly collided. The two drivers argued and swore at each other. The victim said the suspect then made a U-turn and chased him, crashing the passenger side of the suspect’s vehicle into the victim’s front driver’s side. The victim’s bumper and front quarter panel were damaged.
This forced the victim to exit through his driver’s side window. The suspect also emerged from the other vehicle, and the two began arguing again.
The victim said the suspect flicked his cigarette into the victim’s vehicle before leaving.
Responding officers located the suspect. Their investigation revealed that the suspect intentionally and knowingly struck the victim’s vehicle in order to cause fear/bodily harm and then intentionally left the scene of an accident. They took the suspect into custody and transported him to Bartlett Jail.
