Colleges and universities have the following announcements about Mid-South students.

Honors

college-grad-250px-by-153pxTaylor Mallett of Arlington was named to the fall 2017 dean’s list at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. Eligible students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Britney Bost of Bartlett and Rachel Russom of Lakeland were named to the fall 2017 dean’s list at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark. Eligible students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and be classified as a full-time student with at least 12 academic hours.

Megan Cheng of Lakeland has been named to the fall 2017 president’s honor roll at Oklahoma City University. Eligible students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours during a semester and maintain a grade point average of 3.9 or higher.

Hoang-Viet D. Tran and Alexis R. Franklin, both of Lakeland, and Zaria D. Jones of Arlington have been named to the fall 2017 honor roll at Rhodes College in Memphis. Eligible students must be enrolled in at least 16 credit hours of academic work and must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better.

Emma Bethea of Bartlett, Jessica Brewer of Arlington and Courtney Daniel of Lakeland have been named to the fall 2017 dean’s list at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.

Area students named for fall 2017 academic honors at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., include:

  • Dean’s list: Brennan Brown, Kamryn Carpenter, Dalton Dowdy, Rachel Evans, Lauren Harrell, James Loft, Madeline Mahon, Glen Stawick, Stephen Tsiu and Caroline Tucker, all of Bartlett; Ransom Futrell, Brittany Gentry, Molly Shearer, Kyatt Spessert and Sarah Taylor, all of Arlington; and Baylor Bearden, Cameron Courtney, Parker Hutchens and Molly Lukas, all of Lakeland. Eligible students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and be full-time students.
  • President’s list: Lauren Frazier, Alexis Hivner and Karson Holmes, all of Bartlett; and Jacob Brockwell and Anna Horner, both of Lakeland. Eligible students must have a 4.0 grade point average (all As) and be full-time students.

Degrees

Devon Janke of Arlington has earned a master of science degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Hannah Misenheimer, a cum laude graduate, has earned a bachelor of arts degree with a major in dance from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., in the fall 2017 semester.

Melissa Cummings of Bartlett has earned a master of science degree in emergency management from Jacksonville State University in the fall commencement on Dec. 15.
