2018-19 trapping season for most species opens Nov. 16

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 2018-19 trapping season for most species in Tennessee opens on Friday, Nov. 16.

The date is incorrectly listed in the 2018-19 Tennessee Hunting and Fishing Guide as the following week. The correct guide is on the TWRA website at tnwildlife.org.

The species open for trapping on Nov. 16 include bobcat, fox, mink, muskrat, opossum, river otter, raccoon spotted skunk, striped skunk and weasel. The trapping season is open until Feb. 28, 2019, no limit. Trapping for beaver, coyote, and groundhog are open all year with no limit.

Trappers are encouraged to refer to the Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide for legal trapping devices and definitions. The information is located on pages 14-15 of the guide. The trapping seasons are listed on page 16.
